You are correct. It is not worth it if you just want to go FAST. $$$ for $$$.. You cant beat nitrous. The LS1/LS6 likes spray. Now for cool factor. Boost is the way to go. Not many have the $$$ to do a LS1/LS6 right when it comes to boost. Not until recently have LS1/LS6's started to shine with a boost applications. The money my peers have put into their FI cars has been tremendous. When I made the comment if I had to do it all over again I would go 99 FRC and boost I should have also stated that with the recent street racing laws/activities I might not be racing anymore.... A C5 with boost would be more appropriate for the cool factor when I hit car shows..
