Do I have an explanation for what happened to me today on my home from the driving range? Other than he was a bad driver I have zero explanation, but this indeed did occur.
I'm on my way home from trying to knock the covers off of some golf balls at the 66th st. driving range. I pull into the left turn lane on 102nd going toward seminole blvd. I notice what looked to be an enthusiastic corvette driver switching lanes trying to get next to me.
He pulls his beautiful silver 00+ Corvette next to me. He inches foward and I hear a little engine rev, so I know it's on. The light turns green and we make our left turn next to each other. We straighten out and we put it to the floor. Instantly on the low end I pulled a half car on him, he shifts and I'm 1 1/2-2 cars ahead, I powershift 3rd gear and hear my tires screaming for traction as they slowly capture grip. As I'm rolling through 3rd gear I am staring in my side mirror waiting for this beast to come strolling by me, but there he remains, slowly creeping back to my rear bumper, I powershift 4th and hear a slight chirp squeel from my tires. The noes of this beautiful corvette makes it to my door and that's as far as he made it. As he shifted into I can only assume 4th gear I realize the reason for my position, he loses 1 1/2 cars on me. I carry out to almost the top of 4th gear around 120mph when I let off with the corvette not yet regaining his loss of speed due to his poor shifting. Then I let out ...
As I sit there stunned wondering what happened, my brother utters the words, "Dude, you just walked a corvette."
