Yea Turbonetics makes a cast log manifold and so does RPS I believe. They are for the MKIV Turbo to convert to Single. You'll still need a bunch of piping for the intake and exhaust. Cheapest would probably be around $4-5K for the kit + install plus tuning.
You said your friend was looking for 550hp? I hope that is on racing fuel or with an upgraded fuel system because that will probably not happen with the stock fuel system.
