actually, there is a company that makes a variable valve timing mod for push rod engines. It replaces the rocker arms. Corvette magazine recently reviewed it and gained around 30hp through out the powerband. Works by moving the rocker arm pivot. costs something like $650.

So theoretically you can add "vtec" but lets not tell him that.
