Actually....there is a way.Not to start this whole thing up again (not that i was around for the 1st one.)but if u know the right person u can get just about w/e car u want for the right amount of dough. I know a guy who was willing to ship a runing..let me repeat RUNNING S13 from japan for $5000. Since then he said something went wrong in recent ship-overs with some other guy so he said he wasnt doin it for a while. This is the same guy i saw with a freakin container at his shop..and when he opened it up..there was like 10 Type-R front end conversions with the suspension and the wheels..and a shit load of motors..funny thing was the whole left side of the container was empty..or lets just say dark..cause all i heard was a car ignition..and then a "nismo" logo..and there she was...r32. After squeezing info out of him he finnaly let me know..that with a dealer or transporter tag..its all good..no matter if its left-hand right-hand or center drive!..u will be covered..with insurance. :o
I also found out one more thing that might come as a suprise...**hint**The Carribean**hint**..but that info is for more reasearch..or at least till i get my hands on a 94' 323 GT-R
2 things:
One....it is not illegal to bring the car over as parts (that's how most arrive in the USA), but it is ILLEGAL to register them if they HAVEN'T been CONVERTED.
As far as the "Dealer Plate" goes, you are correct. You CAN drive the car with that, BUT the insurance is the "Dealerships", not yours....and if you get caught (becuase using a dealer tag to circumvent the NHSTA and EPA is ILLEGAL), than the car will be impounded, crushed, and forever gone. The Dealership will ALSO loose there Dealers license in the STATE OF FLORIDA.
Carribean? Not as easy as you think.
