Premix!
Well today I was reading on the RX-7 board that you can pour (POUR!!!) water into the carb to "steam clean" it. Not wanting to do that just yet...I opted instead for spraying carb cleaner in. I drove the car around a bit, warmed it up, then popped the air filter cover, and revving the engine with the choke (handy gadget, considering I can't find the throttle cable) I sprayed some in each side of the carb. Engine stumbled a little, then revved back up again. I didn't use much, probably will do it again soon, as it really seemed to help smooth out my idle, and seemed to rev a little smoother. BTW, where is the throttle cable?
Also, I finally got out to get some 2-stroke oil. Debating what container to keep it in, and decided on:
2-liter bottle to fill with 2-stroke oil. Cap on it from a Dove dish detergent bottle (Pop off and squeeze type). Using that as a source container, squeeze into a water bottle with a pull-out type nozzle on it. This way it will fit in the gas tank, just squeeze from the source 2-liter into the smaller bottle, with a spout that can go right into the tank filler.
I realized today that my planned method of using a 10 oz bottle poured into a funnel in the tank won't work well. #1, it's too hard to see when refilling the bottle. I overflowed it onto my garage floor. #2, I managed to get it on myself at the gas station, getting the bottle, my hands, the ground, shirt, and bag it was all in previously, spattered with oil. Generally too messy to do regularly.
In the future, I hope to find a squirt top for a 3 liter bottle. That would be ideal for a long trip, which is the most I should need to store in the car at one time.
My OMP seems to work, might be clogged, but it seems a little sluggish, so until I get it figured out or removed, I decided I'm gonna premix to be safe.
