You can rev a stock ls bottom end to 8500 rpms without problems.
I have a couple of friends who beat the hell out of there ls/vtecs with out arp rod bolts & never had any problems.

I highly recommend arp rod bolts to insure your rod bolts dont strech at high rpms.
