Geez, this kind of thread again. IMO I'd always choose the motor with more potential. In Honda's case the b series is always better off than the d-series.
List of reasons:
-Port flow potential
-DISPLACEMENT
-Tune-ability
-Transmissions are much better geared and stronger
-Intermediate shafts that allow for equal length axles (I know how to run int. shafts and equal axles on d-series but the parts are too hard to find.)
-Valve train is much simpler and easier to work on
....... could add more but whats the point.
The only things that I can think of that the d-series has going for it is they are cheap and they have a five cap main girdle. I seriously can't think of anything else. I've seen people try to build all motor d-series stuff and they never get the power that a stock gsr puts out yet the motor is stressed to hell.
