priming an engine that has been sitting for a while...???
Ok, so I am a week away from swapping my 99 motor for the "new" 2001 motor, but i have a question. Is there a way to prime/pre-lube the 4.6, or do i need to take it apart and put a few drops of oil on everything (please not this one!!!)???
the engine has been sitting since October 2001, and with 140 miles on it i would hate to score up the cylinder walls or bearings the first time i crank it up...
if it requires taking the motor apart i will probably go ahead and do some home porting on the heads...but i would prefer to wait and port the heads that are on the car now.
thanks for the help!!!
PS. I have all the bracketry and most of the metal parts on top of the engine powdercoated black chrome (like the Kenny Brown Y2K R's) and it looks awesome. i'll be sure to get some pics up as soon as i can.
