The promoter I am working with has ties with lots of professional racers -- even guys like Randy Pobst, Tony Kanaan, etc. There will be some big big names coming to the event with "real" race cars. I'm sure that some of the pro-truck and late-model oval guys will also come out. Those cars weigh... oh... 1800lbs and make 600WHP? I watched a pro-truck drift the whole track. As in the entire 1/3 mile oval.
Secondly, how retarded would it be if I competed in my own competition? I'm going to be a judge, not a competitor. I may go out and do some exhibition runs, but I am not competing. I've also put together a score sheet which makes the event almost 100% objective as opposed to being subjective. This score sheet will also apply at Beaver Run and any of the Sideways Salvation Series events.
I'm working with Matt on the invites, he's supposed to email me a list of heads.
It will be run similar to a "normal" drifting competition -- some practice time, some qualifying rounds, some eliminators, and then the "finals". No tandems though.
You guys sure do whine a lot.
Thanks Erik. That's all they needed. Instead of assuming everything, just you tell them exactly what is going to happen.
