yea man i like the sr20det for that reason, very reliable too. as far as turbo engines anyway. If he wants a slightly bigger turbo go for it, The turbo I have had my eyes set on was an 18g with the td-06 hotwheel. or he could go 60-1. but its all in his preference ya know. How many miles your sr20 got?
