No support at all? The driver is enclosed, there is a rollbar, and if it's coming to US shores than it has passed crash testing.
As far as its light weight adding to any illusion you possess of it being dangerous, I disagree again. I'd pick a light car like the Elise over some road heavy mustang (just a random pick) any day. With less mass it's a hell of a lot easier to control and brake.
