It is really hard for people who lived here for 10 or more years to see how much they are missing out with this police department. They are officers in the 5th dist. (I think that's what he said I'll ask him today), I know he covers the fletcher/bruce b downs etc area. Also, the police have a right to search you if they believe you have commited a crime, but only for their safety not for an investigation. All I'd do is keep my mouth shut and let my lawyer handle it. I have gotten out of so many deep holes with a good lawyer it isn't even funny.

Since I have google I checked really quick and found this

"The starting salary for a Police Officer Candidate, currently $37,403, is one of the highest among local jurisdictions"

I don't see another $13k jump within a year.

Almost all of the benefits you list HCSO and TPD also give. I understand that where you came from is automatically going to be better but in this day and age most of your larger agencies around the country stay competitive in salaries and benefits.

Personally I was shocked when I first saw 4 years ago that NYPD started at $28,000 and TPD was higher considering how much more it costs to live up there. Over the years they have increased the pay but it isn't like you will find a 2000 sq ft house to live in up there on Police salary.

Do you own a Torch Red FRC and tremble every time you drive under I75 on Hwy 60 and look in your rearview mirror? If so you are suffering from what is known as Cobraphobia.
