Exactly. Unless I am going to be charged or arrested you do not have the right to see my ID. That situation was handled totally wrong.
A bit off topic but Nor do they have the right to search my car. Print this and put it in your glovebox to hand the the officer if you are ever pulled over and "asked" to be searched.
"Under advice of my attorney to protect my Constitutional Rights, I do not give consent for you to search my vehicle. If you feel you have probable cause to search my vehicle, please present your evidence to a duly appointed magistrate for issuance of a legal search warrant to conduct the search. If I am detained as a result of this process and there is no evidence of illegal activity on my part, my attorney will be initiating civil action against you, your department and the city for unlawful detainment and defamation of character by implying that I was taking part in illegal activities. My attorney will also initiate a complaint through the Department of Justice for violating my 4th Amendment Rights under the Constitution of the United States."
+1 , great idea and for all you people who dont believe this was the wrong thing that happened your all screwed in the head!!!
Print that shit, learn it, read it everyday, repeat it over and over until its in your head without a doubt and you know it 100 percent by heart so you wont even have to show paper. Just tell the cop who ask's you to step out of your vehicle so he can look around your car. He has no right unless you have been doing drugs or look to have been doing something illigal , drugs or otherwise. If your papers are in order and all that then let the cop sit and stew in his own shit. He must have a reason to pull you over and dont be fooled into their con artist ways. They will try anything to get a moron out of the car to probe their nose a little further into your business..
