The ohm is the unit of measure of a devices opposition to the flow of electrical current. (bcae)
Higher ohm loads on speakers will in a way have them be quieter.. since 8 ohms to an amp gives about half rated power.. but 2 8 ohm speakers will give rated power.. (paralell) and be louder than the 1 4 ohm speaker (asusming all are identical, speaker enclosure etc etc)
