yes it would. But if the only reason you are chipping it is to get rid of that code there are other ways to do it. Try to find an o2 voltage simulator for like $40 or so.

If you want the performance advantage of a chipped ecu then do the jumper harness and obd1 chipped ecu. pm me if you need a conversion harness and ecu.
