OK, the HEI showed up and of course didn't fit, it hits the #5 (#1 on a Chevy) intake runner.

So I marked the dizzy with black sharpie and placed it back in the engine , over and over to see how much I would have to grind off.

Note the black mark on the intake

I kept carving it down until it fit...barely, and I didn't even need to J-B weld the intake...

Then I started on the Holley carb, a 3310-2 780cfm vacuum secondary piece that had been sitting on the shelf forever.

Got it pried apart....

Then I started digging into my 30 year old drawer of Holley parts for the pieces I need to repair the carb

For some reason Photobucket is screwing me over so you'll have to pick through these pics and see for yourself. I started rebuilding the carb, first offu must have several tools, especially one that has been sitting on the shelf for 25 years and has all the gas evaporate out of it. These are, an air gun, file, pick, toothbrush, carb cleaner and most importantly stripped wiring . The wiring is for clearing out the misc air bleeds and passages in the carb, especially the ones that have been clogged up by crud.

Probably the most important issue is to make sure all the surfaces are flat the plate, the main body, when you work on the throttle plate, make sure the throttles are shut all the way or you will file the butterfly edge.

This is how you use the wire to clean out passages

You must clear all the passages in the carb, especially after bead blasting

Some of the crud was so bad that I had to feed the parts to the bead blaster

Over all the parts came out well and are ready to be re-assembled

especially the main body mods

Some more pics, I swapped out the 12 inch/300 lb springs for some 9/300 in order to get the car level.

the car in it's "new stance" and dummied up body work
