You're way off base. I'm not "rev'ing too high" about anything. You come on here and get all defensive about YOUR pictures but I cant defend a false quote about me from you?

And now you want to start some sort of image battle? I think you're the one thats rev'ing a little high my friend. My images get judged immediately by the best in the business in the US, and since they pay the bills...I dont need you're judgement anymore than you claim I've given yours.

Certinally don't want a battle mate, maybe I'm having an off day, if so I appologiose but I get a lot of 'opinion' on forums and possibly jumped a little to far too soon. My best advice to those interested in car photography, be prepared to work very hard, be prepared to be knocked a lot by others but most of all if your really passionate about it just ignore them all and get out there and shoot what you love.

I think there is a huge misconception on alot of peoples parts.

People dont seem to know the difference between a world class Commercial Automotive photographer, versus a magazine shooter.

When shooting for a magazine, you are shooting an editorial. You are covering what you see. You arent really creating a scene to an extent that a commercial shooter does. Commercial shoots all have a theme or a base idea, and then it builds upon that, storyboarding is not uncommon, as well as a sketch of your ideas. This is what sets Tim Wallace, Easton Chang, David Vaught, etc. They are creators, not journalists. HUGE DIFFERENCE!

Please dont be so arrogant as to think that you cant learn something from anyone who shoots a photograph, even if you are judged by the Nations best. If you keep thinking that way, you will never move forward. Hell everytime i shoot i learn something, from someone. Keep an open mind. Im happy that Tim is in here, i would love to hear his thoughts on lots of different things, especially how he sees light, and how he chooses to manipulate it to the varying subjects.

 

not a bad thing at all. just nit picking but even then you prob. would never see it as i do unless you were into rc cars/trucks at 1 point or another.

if you look at the picture the suppport beam for the building in the backgroung comes out of the car at the rear window, which is where most rc car antenas come out.

There is a huge difference between event coverage in a magazine and shooting a feature. Shooting a feature for a magazine is not very much different than shooting commercial at all. So to classify them as such is not something I would consider to be correct. Granted this is all my opinion, but in both scenarios the only thing a given is the car itself. Easton will probably tell you the same.

If you aimed the second part of that at me, save it, because I agree. But at the same time I dont want to learn from someone who comes on here on the extreme defensive, boasts about how good he is and what he's done (which was actually some really, really good stuff) and now I'm arrogant because I dont want his advice? Its not that I dont NEED his advice, its that I dont WANT his advice. I like nice people, I know, its a flaw of mine that I really should work on.

To me, photography is an art, it should'nt conform to any mold or rule. For the record I never said I didnt like Tim's work, I'd be blind if I didnt.
