selling (and buying) photo's online?
well this is a simple set of questions
do you sell (or buy) photo's online?
if so what site (or sites) do you use?
how are there rates (in reference to $)?
how is their content (for purchases)?
how is the turn rate (how often do your photo's sell if ever)?
how is dealing with the company?
compans i have heard of but not delt with include
http://www.smugmug.com
http://www.ifp3.com/
http://www.photostockplus.com
http://www.photoreflect.com
http://www.shutterpoint.com
http://www.istockphoto.com
i just had an idea since there are so many blossoming phototags (and some lucky gwc's (guy with camera)) here on tr it might be a good idea for some to try to make a little coin off their hobbies the easy way
thanks guys!

do you sell (or buy) photo's online? Yes
if so what site (or sites) do you use? I use 2. My SmugMug and if I have a request for one that's not on SM, I use WHCC
how are there rates (in reference to $)? Great as far as I'm concerned
how is their content (for purchases)? Both of them have a huge array of products just depending on what your customer is looking for
how is the turn rate (how often do your photo's sell if ever)? Both within days, depending on shipping destination
how is dealing with the company? I've dealt with SM technically and can't speak highly of them, they were wonderful. With WHCC it was a simple product question and they were great. Both are very user friendly. With SM I like it that customers can go in and buy what they want and I don't have to deal with anything

mama you are always on point! and yes actually lol
i just thought this might be able to be used as an information thread for some of the phototags around! i've use to use smug and photostock (which has been since shut down) until i got picked up to shoot for Wonder when they are in the area and need me (they eat up my free time and i have a "real job" so no more playing in the stock photography lol). so i guess i should post my experience as well
photostock.com - sold one photo which lead to a part time on need basis job due to the company that bought it hunting me down, but said site shut down not long after that happened

I don't do any stock photography, if you didn't notice lol, so I really don't play around much with those sites.
Most of the stuff that I have sold have either been friends or friends of friends, they see it, want it and I make them buy it lol I take that back. I've sold 2 that people have seen on Flickr (all pics are watermarked with website), that they've gone and bought.
Depending on what you're willing to spend, SM is a bit much ($150 but if you have a coupon code you can usually get some off that) off the top but for the year that's not bad at all. Their reposts are so much more clear (for forums), and to me it's much more user friendly. Customers don't get lost and if you categorize it right, then it's a breeze.
