$189 Macco vs. $3000+ Paint jobs
I see a lot of these questions being asked as to what the differences are and what not. It's simple, you get what you pay for.
Large chains such as Macco or Econo offer paint jobs anywhere from $189 and up. The $189 does not include prep, body work, etc and the paint used are a single stage accrylic paint. Both Macco and Econo do offer high end base coat clear coat. If you walk in with $200, I'd say you really have no room to bitch and complain on the outcome of the spray. I have personally seen some sick paint work, but you are talking $4000+.
To put it into perspective for those that don't have an idea on what things cost. We work with Dupont a lot, so I will use that as an example. Dupont paint are seperated into their three main grades.
Chromapremier
Chromabase
Nasan
Nasan is the cheapest out of the three, then Chromabase, and the best is of course Chromapremier. All three classes are considerably good paint compared to some other brands out there. Price difference between the three can be very different. For a full Chromapremier paint job, just the clear coat alone can start at around $400 to well over $600 a gallon, this includes harderner, etc. Where as a Nasan clear coat costs somewhere around $150.
With that in mind, for those that are getting a $1000 paint job, rethink everything, because if materials (clear coat) alone can cost up to $600, what materials are being used on your car?

lol well, the real moral is that you get what you pay for.
If there is a badass painter getting some experience at a maaco and you pay for quality supplies, you can get a badass paint job too... But that's pretty unlikely as we all know

Yes and no, i had my white corolla done by them, i just brought it to them after i finished up the body work, primer and wet sand, and for the $250 i spent, the car actually came out decent, not saying it wasnt going to fade in a few years, but was decent for a drift beater.
On the other hand, theres my 510, by the time the car is done with the body work and paint, ill probably will have spent $2500-$2800. prep work is the key to a good paint job.

^ If someone got that much overspray on my bumper and trim I'd punch them in the face. Je-sus Christ.
I had my Civic done there, spent something like 600-700 dollars. They fucked it up 5 times before I just left unhappily. There were ROCKS in the paint, as well as the usual overspray, orange peel, runs, etc.

um. there was no overspray on the bumpers OR trim.
if your talking about the second pic, that is when i was working on the body, and what you see on the trim is just dust from sanding.
you also have to pick the "better" maaco, which at the time, was the one on palm river road in brandon.
