S14 7" flip out fitment issues?
so yeah, i might be getting one, and it's the standard flip out shit, we all know, 7" screen blah blah...
what i want to know it, if it's in to top Din pocket, will it hit the AC control bezel when it flips out? if so, would it not hit if i ran it in the bottom Din pocket?
i'd rather make sure it fits before i spend money on it.

i want to, with navi and all that, but the wal mart poineer that came with the car just took a shit, and i can get this 7" flip out for $50, will hold me over till the DDTS w/nav.

Im on the same boat. Im getting a 2din but have a flip out ATM. Anyways, i have a clarion flip out and i run it on the bottom pocket. At the preset tilt setting it taps the ac bezel lightly.

so if mine doesn't have a tilt feature (old ass audiovox w/no ipod hook up ARG), then it'll most likely hit the AC bezel and push against it... great..
starting to look like my lack of power (both the flip out and the shitty pioneer), might actually be chassis side related, so maybe i wont have to use the flip out anyways... we'll see what up when i throw the meter on it...

lol. Well from the factory the screen seems to come out 90degrees from the unit itself. Seeing how the radio sits in an angle i would say yes it will push against it if it has no tilt adjuster. One more thing, for some reason my unit stick out about 1/2" out so that helps it some without me adjusting the tilt.

it hit, didn't really want to use it anyways...
problem wasn't the head unit, it was the remote, for some reason, it was "relocated" and i had to reweire/solder it correctly, wont be an issue now... awesome how the power and remote wires were just twisted, not soldered and heatshrink.

^ its that kinda crap that makes me pull every aftermarket head unit out of a car i just get and re-install it even if there are no problems. its amazing what kids, hell, even shops will do to get a head unit installed and "working"
My z, the switched power was tapped off of the dimmer switch, and the constant was tapped off of the a/c blower. So you had to have the headlights on, and the a/c on to get the radio to play. The ground was wrapped around the antenna wire.
And I've seen scarier shit stuffed behind a headunit before.
