rb25det s1 on z32 ecu...
so i have a rb25det series 1 swap in my s13. but it was being controlled by a series 2 ecu and never quite felt right. so i decided to buy a z32 ecu and get it chipped/tuned(best option ive found for rb25 ecu tuning)
well today i got bored and put the stock n/a auto z32 ecu in my car. and to my suprise it actually ran. and quite well to be honest. used the afc to pull shit tons of fuel at lower rpms and at lower throttle. but left most of the high throttle tune where i had it for the s2 ecu.
did a few light pulls to get the lower rpm tune more dialed in. and then did a few w.o.t pulls. after small corrections the car started pulling hard. and running better than ever.
and i dont know why. at first thought i didnt even think it would run the car. but im thinking it runs better because it fires the coils correctly. the s1 uses an ignitor chip just like z32s. and the s2 ecu fires the coils from the ecu. with no ignitor chip. and the only code i get with the z32 ecu is code 48 fuel temp sensor circuit fault. only because s13s dont have that sensor.
just wanted to share this nissan info. incase somebody needs a ecu for an rb25 look into a code 20 z32 ecu. they are cheap and if you have an afc you can tune them enough to run good. oh and z1motorsports sockets them for 75+shipping.
feel free to ask questions or scrutinize my findings.

Yea bang for buck this is a great option, you are lucky the rb ecu did not burn up as thats a common problem with that setup.
For S2 rb guys w/VVT I dont believe you are able to retain it w/the Z32 ecu, but big deal.

Yea the s2 ecu was hurting performance bad. When the ecu was in the car the car slowly started running worse and worse. And once I put the z32 ecu in the ran good again. Still sorting out some fuel and timig issues though. Not having a timing light is owning me
. but if anybody needs an s2 ecu that works ok lmk cause I have one for sale lol.
