Ka rebuild Q's
Hey guys, I'm doing a stock rebuild on my ka. I plan on re-using rods and pistons, however I was wondering the best way to clean carbon deposits off pistons. I have heard a bunch of different methods including oven cleaner, wire brush, carb cleaner, kerosene, and animal semen. What would some of you guys recommend. People with experience please feel free to chime in.
hahahah animal semen. wow. ive rebuilt a few chevy small blocks v8s. ive always cleaned up parts with a small wire brush, and gasoline but carb cleaner always works 2. now with carb cleaner u gotta keep shooting over the thick spots 2 break up the carbon crap. ur gonna go thru about 2-3 cans with ur engine rebuild.
Take one of the old rings and break it into 1/3 diameter pieces. Use that to get into the lands better... Use the unbroken open edge .. its a perfect fit since it was what was in there to begin with.

true that
basically, just do whatever works, just don't go at it with a hammer and chisel. It would be far better to take several hours than get it all done in 20 minutes. Don't use anything to abrasive and don't use too much elbow grease. this is one of those, better to wipe 50 times, then scrub 10 times type of things.
