Default ka24de headgasket replacement??

I gotta 1992 240sx and im pretty sure it has a blown headgasket...How easy is the head to remove and re install? i dont own a haynes on it but am going to buy one ...Would it need a resurfuce? I have changed the headgasket on D series SOHC honda motors but never a ka24de....Any input will help a ton.

i just did mine a little over a month ago
what i did was pull the radiator/fans,air box,
and i also removed the intake mani the gasket is only $14, it makes it lighter to pick up..
then i pulled off the valve cover and the front timing cover, had a friend with me,then removed the cam bolt for the chain on both cams then ziptied the chain so it doesnt fall, then pulled off all the cam caps and pulled the cams, and the timing gear, losened all the nuts in the order your supposed to the pulled the head off cleaned the head and replace the new gasket then torqued it down put it all back together..look up all the torque specs and even a thread on how to do it,it's easy just time consuming ohh and setting the timing right was pretty shitty thou.

I had to do it on mine once(wide open on bottle down I4 lol)

I did not remove the intake, i just dropped the exhaust manifold then zip tied gears to the chain. removed the head, one side at a time. place in new one the same way(get the copper head gasket spray total life saver) reassemble and turn it over by hand and make sure the cams are on point. copper rtv ftw.

+1 on the copper headgasket. I plan on using one when I do my rebuild.

for the copper head gasket dont you have to get the head machined for it??
and why would you go copper the OEM head gasket holds up around 600+ i doubt you will ever see that much power.
