i just baught this s13 and i toke it apart andim shaving the heads im doing port and polish and a valve job is this a good idea to spend money on a sohc kuz if its not i can just sell the motor but then i was wondering if i could be original and keep this motor

 

if it was me I would sell it

 

build it, turbo it, rock it.

or

buy an SR.

or

buy a dohc

or

Its your fucking car dude, do what you want.

Ask specific questions, like will this motor blow a headgasket everytime I look at it cross-eyed?

either dohc or build the sohc..my opinion though

 

it all depends on what you are looking to get out of it.
there isn't alot of support for the SOHC so you are going to be forced to do alot of custom stuff to get those higher numbers out of it.
if you rebuild it and all that good stuff, then it is going to be just as strong as any other engine. on that same token, the SOHC might not make as much power as another engine with the same amount of mods.
Not alot of people have done the SOHC, so you would be different, if thats what you are going for.
