Default Question about a 240sx water pump.

Today I noticed some coolant on the ground. Looks to be leaking up under the water pump. I suppose that is the sign that the water pump is bad or going bad. How involved is it to replace? Does the radiator have to be removed to give you more room to replace the water pump. Thought I would check with you guys before starting the replacment. If it matters, its a 93.
Thanks..

if you have a factory clutch fan and shroud, you'll have to remove the shroud, and the fan is on the pump...of course you'll have to transfer that. but other than that, its just 4 or 5 bolts into the block. should take 20 maybe 30 mins for your first time.

Keep your dog away from the coolant...unless you want to get a new one.

170k240, thanks for the offer, but I think I'll install a new water pump just to be on the safe side. Thanks again for the offer.

Im not really sure whats going on now??? Car did not leak untill I replaced the rad. cap. I put back on the old cap and no leak. Put back the new cap and it leaks from the water pump area. Im thinking maybe 2 much pressure is building up and causing the leak. What do you think? The reason I replaced the old cap was that its seems to have a slight leak on top of the cap.

well too much pressure will most likely make your reservoir level higher, and will make the weakest part of your system leak. water pump is usually less than $30 new. Might as well make sure you have the right cap (check manual for psi 16-18 probably) and replace that waterpump before it gives you more problems.
