Starter will be connected to the transmission. Look around the entire circumference of where the transmission meets engine. Probably under the intake manifold

k...have any ideas on what this problem is...my girldriend tried starting it and it just clicked it finally started and she got home and said the battery was bad so i started it it started right up.took her battery down and tested bad so we bought a new one...installed it and nothing.turned the headlights on and they slowly got brighter from off..well jumped it and started right up took the battery back and tested it came out good...took it back cleaned of the terminals and tried again just clicks...tried jumping it and it starts right up, have any thought of what this could be? im thinking starter but as soon as we jump it it starts right up no problems turning over or anything...and i tripple checked and the battery is the right one.

starter solinoid(sp?) or your alternator. also make sure its grounded properly or if you have painted battery terminals make sure your getting connection there (i had this problem with the quick release terminals i got from advanced auto). buy a multimeter it will help you out and there only $20 for a cheap one.

doesnt sounds like starter or starter solenoid.

Id say alternator.

you can have AdvanceAuto run a free electrical test.

alright

if the car is finicky about starting, has issues, even with a new battery, its the starter.

chances are this, the starter started going bad, then shorted out at times which ruined the battery. you replaced the battery, and your still having problems. either you dont know how to hook a battery up, or you have a starter issue.

With a bad alternator, you should be able to drive for at least 30 minutes, and do some hard cranking with a fully charged battery.
