Question Z31 power question...

OK for some time Now I have been wanting to get another Z31 and its now very close to my grasp.... I have located an 85 turbo... But my question thats rattling my melon is oo either keep the VG30det or swap in a VG30dett??? Then I heard and read just a little on people puting a VG33de in and Super Charging it...

My over all goal w/ the car ois to pull 280+ whp and set it for handling and or be able to change it over to drift setting in a day of werk... As wel as I'm planning to up grade teh suspention to teh Z32 parts over time..... Thanks for any help...

well seeing as how there's no such thing as an OEM VG30det, you should keep the VG30eT, they're potential is good, and they last a long time. The TT is large in the Z32 engine bay, and the z32 engine bay is even smaller...stick with the once cam VG.

Keep the vg30et. If you have to swap engines, swap for a vg33e and swap your turbo stuff to that.

it`s called a 300zr. and it`s non turbo in it`s stock form. vg30de.
i believe the cedric came with a vg30det and there is someone from z31.com that has just dropped one in. problem is steering and turbos on the same side here in usdm land. anything can be done with enough time and money.

and just to get your couriousity (sp?) going, we have seen z32 and s13 rear sub frames go under z31.

If all you want is 280+ hp then stick with the stock motor. Add some fuel, an intercooler, exhaust, and an upgraded turbo and you will have somewhere in the 300s. I managed 269rwhp/349torque on a stock t3 turbo and I believe I have some work to do with tuning and getting the boost a bit higher. Also, the dyno was done at XAT (Their dyno is rumored to read a bit low). So anyway, its not that hard to get that kind of power our of the vg30et and its certainly not worth the trouble to put the vg30det or any other motor in just to get above 280hp.

exactly.. build the stock VG30ET ... and you'll put down some power... choose the right turbo and get lots and lots of fuel.. and you'll have a fun little machine!

there is a guy 1SickZ in orlando.. has basically done just that and is honestly quite fast...

Quite fast? How about sickly fast. He recently put like 588 on 15 PSI and is soon going for 25lbs. I can't agree more with what Stinky said. Keep the Vg30et!!
