Default SR20VE in a S13?

First things first will this work? Are the mounts on the block in the same place? Obviously the intake manifold is backwards, so would I just be able to throw a DET manifold on it. To my knowledge this motor was not made in any RWD cars. These are just the most obvious problems I noticed. Thanks

It can be done.... but its frankenstien... Big tom on Sr20deforums is doing a RWD VE right now. Take the head off a VE and put it on a N/A RWD SR20 block. Im sure that is oversiplified but it can be done.

So I assume that the reason you have to swap the head is because the mounts don't work out. I guess I would also have to have a custom header made.

the VET only came AWD but supposedly DE transmission bolts up to the VE as they are the same block, just a different head. I would have to assume the rwd tranny will mate.

well... think about it. You couldnt take an Avenier motor and put it into an S chassis. Nor could you take an S13 motor and put it in a B chassis. So yeah.. the head is what makes a VE a VE... and some other things that are similar between VE's and DET's. All in all it seems like alot of work... only reason i went VE in my B14 is because our transmissions are weak. The S chassis trans are much stronger... go with boost. Its cheaper. Unless you are just trying to get some originality points.

As for a VET that someone mentioned.... its close to impossible to find. And all VE's came with 6 speed CVT trans, but the DE trans bolts up just fine. I have a VE in my B14.
