engine swap help
i was woundering what kind of engine i could put in a 91-94 sentra se-r? i was thinking of getting one and doing something with it. i was also thinking of something that no one has done around here. i could just go get a 240, but i want something alittle diff. so i was woundering if the sr20 or what ever would fit in the sentra se-r ?
you should look for a bluebird, or GTI-R SR20DET. or even a SR20VE. all of which are avail in FWD platforms. You can also choose to go with a CA18DET.
AWD Bluebird or GTi-R engine bolts right onto existing SE-R transmission. Using a JWT tuned ECU and the US engine harness, the swap can make these cars run very fast, low 13's stock
good sites to peruse

cool but um i am clueless about the engines i am a american car guy but looking to get in to the import stuff, the car i have now is good to get from point a to point b but now i need some speed, i hate going slow.
it wont be all wheel drive, ,you have to retain the fwd drivetrain no matter which swap.
lots of people have swapped se-r's around here, so it wouldnt be totally original, but if you arent totally familiar with it, that would be better suited to you, i think.
check sr20forums, and floridasr20's for more help.
or just trurbo the motor that is already in the car.

research! go to srswap.com and read, go to freshalloy.com and nissanforums.com, sr20.net
you've made a great choice, the B13 SE-R will make a very fun car for a reasonable price. They are great fwd project cars. theres a ton of information available online, and the engines themselves, if sourced from a reputable dealer will serve you well.
If you have any questions, there's plenty of people here on TR that can help you. Just try not to ask stuff thats silly and easily looked up.

i am on a site right now and was woundering about the bluebirds um it has 2 diff. a u12 and a u13 and both are priced a little diff. so what is the drff. also which is better the sunny gti-r or the u12 or u 13 bluebird?
the GTI-R would be the best SR20DET for fwd. its stronger from the factory. bigger turbo, oil squirters, lower compression, completly different head, mechanical valve train w/ sodium filled valves (as apposed to the bluebird SR20DET which has hydrolic valve train) exhaust valves are larger, main cap bolts are stronger. stock bottom end has held I believe the record was 424 hp.
the gti-r is more expensive to repair than a bluebird, or avenir though. since every part is different, and it shares very few, if any part with any other sr20det.
if you dont want to it to be the fastest, but the most reliable, and easy to get parts in america.. i would reccomend a newer bluebird (u13) or avenir.
they make real similar power, but the avenir has a faster spinning turbo, so less turbo lag. and it shares alot of parts with the newer roller rocker sr20de.
the bluebird motors share most parts with a highport sr20de.
