Default Improved the Ride - Seats, Door Panels, Boots, Dampers

Hey all,

After poishing the intake manifold, I decided it was time to treat myself and my cockpit versus concentrating on the engine so much. After all, the 240SX is supposed to be a luxury sport coupe...

I installed the leather seats and door panel inserts over a period of 2 Saturdays. Not a hard install but very time consuming w/ all the hog rings involved. I'm super impressed w/ the fitment and extra cushioning stiched in. Considering my marathon physique, you'd think I'd be sliding all over but that's not the case. They're more snug than the cloth! We'll see what the next auto-x or road course have to say.

I also installed the leather shift boot and e-brake handle from RedlineGoods.com - $57 shipped. Great replacement for a ripped/teared shift boot.

Pictures can be seen here: Interior Pictures

ANY/ALL S13s & S14s: While installing the door panel inserts, I added dynamat to reduce noise and eliminate rattling. With the panel off, I found many of the screws loose. Tighten them and that by itself will quelch some rattling. I also put dynamat in the trunk and rear speaker panel. Quality of ride is so much more enjoyable. Granted, I added about 20lbs of dynmat but it's worth it.

Finally, I increased the dampers up front to compensate for the 225/265 tire combo I'm running. Less rebound plus better turn-in equals improved ride.

Jesse

PS - Anyone care to venture to Orlando to pick up my kouki conversion?

What are you doing with the front bumper cover you are removing?

Also, can I get a ride in your car sometime? I have been trying to decide between putting Dynamat sheets or using the spray sound deadening.

Well, I f**ked up the seats w/ armorall - I'll never use that stuff again on the seats. It makes them look cheap plus they're super slippy now...

Ralph, Lincoln - If someone wants my zenki front, especially my bumper w/lip or hood, they need to come w/ me this Thursday morning to Orlando. If not, I'll be taking everything back except the bumper and hood.

Vik - With that great hospitality las weekend, you can sign me up to help out on your Z. Thanks for the food, videos, and midnight cruise!

Jeff - There's nothing showy here, just treating myself and passenger to a quality ride If my INGs kit ever arrives, then we'll talk show

Default Very nice Jesse!

Looks great...but yeah never put armorall on leather... Take a trip to a local tack shop and get a jug of Lexol, it is the best way to take care of your leather seats.

As far as helping Vik...I see he has sucked another person in. LOL
