RPM Question

Question RPM Question

My question is how do i fix my RPM Gauge, at idle shows a little above 2 and when i drive it jumps up real high so i have to go by the engine sound to know when to shift, any one know whats the problem with it and how I can fix it. thanks Chris

Well I have to do the same thing right now because I got the dohc swap in my s13 and the tach doesn't hook up with it so until I get one from a later model I have to do the same thing you are doing. As far as fixing it, I don't know, sorry.

It's so much of a pain in the butt to take the cluster out, I'd just find a replacement. Everyone throws their working SOHC tach out anyways, so you should be able to find one for free. If you have to take the cluster out more than once to fix it, its not worth it.

if you have a sohc, i still have my cluster just laying around if you want it.

well im getting a sr20det as soon as i get my student loans probaly august when i get that will my rpm problem be fixed? if so i wont worry bout it, im not going to be racing a sohc any time soon
