Basic 240sx questions....
Looking to get one as a new Daily driver so i have a few questions:
Looking at a 89-95 i think it is...well that body style(older one i guess)
Which is lighter: Hatch/coupe
Which has more storage space?
Did they all have the same engine from the factory etc? power levels if you know off hand?
Any easy mods to make them a little faster(mainly passing power, not drifting
)
Also I keep hearing people talk about hatch rust....is that real bad? Even if it is only a little bit I have heard it can be VERY bad? any truth to that?

hatch has alot more room..most of them have rust around the windon..its bad since that a the hatch is a major support point of the car..lighter i believe the hatch is ligher..
for better pick up make a custom intake putting the MAF as close to the TB as possible..and exhaust..you should be find..short shifters are nice to have as well..

coupes are lighter. hatches more space (no rear deck just all one big open space)
89-90 SOHC 140hp/155? tq
91-93 DOHC 155hp/160tq
94 was all convertibles and all 'verts are automatic (unless swapped)
hatch rust is easy to fix as i said in another thread.
easy mods are Mass Air Flow adapter with a cone filter, removing the clutch fan from the water pump pulley and getting electric fans or wiring the electric fan to run switched or constant, exhaust is decent too but for daily u dont need loud.
the MAF is actually supposed to be at least 6" (or was it 8") from the throttle body i believe or it wont read right.
you can also disable the EGR system and the SCV (secondary butterfly valves in the intake (sounds like vtec sometimes).

My old beater was a 93 5.0 mustang coupe and i couldn't fit a big duffel bag in that whore. Which was a good thing cause My car tends to build up alot of crap between weekly clean outs.

id say your best bet for reliability would be ridding the car of the clucth fan. getting the dual fal fans. wire them into a temp switch. then getting an intake. and last get the SS rom tune (one of the better bang for the bucks). prob bump you 20whp possibly even 30. i think that would begood enough for passing power.

I'd sell my mint hicas in a coupla months for 3K, just u gotta find a new rear hatch for it.... If I sold it with a perfect wingless hatch i'd ask more...
