Default possible tranny problem...

When iam sitting at idle there is this noise coming from the tranny, but when i step on the clutch it goes away??? and when iam downshifting into second gear it grinds???? untill i put it in neutral and then back in second, it does this everytime...and when i put it in 4th gear it comes out of gear by itself and into neutral unless iam actually holding the stick and keeping it from coming out of gear... what is my problem here??

The noise might just be from the throw-out bearing. You may have a faulty throw-out bearing. If you installed a new throw-out bearing, there can be one of two things, the throw-out bearing may still be faulty, or the throw-out bearing is not pressed on properly.

Other then that, all the other problems all suggests that you should start looking for a KA tranny and replace it with the one that you have.

i just did my friends swap and his car had a completely destroyed clutch. it was a nice aftermarket one too. we had to change that. so your car was prob a drift car as well. could be the throw out bearing.

This most like is what I had said in the previous post, either a bad throwout bearing, or the throwout bearing was not pressed on properly, or an output shaft.

and when iam downshifting into second gear it grinds???? untill i put it in neutral and then back in second, it does this everytime...

Clutch might be going (not a big probablility), must likely the 2nd gear synchro is wearing or worn. If you want to attempt trying to fix this, try changing fluids, at times, it helps.

and when i put it in 4th gear it comes out of gear by itself and into neutral unless iam actually holding the stick and keeping it from coming out of gear... what is my problem here??

This, just means....get the tranny rebuilt, or get a KA tranny and replace the bellhousing.....

okay i think i have narrowed down my options and iam going to go and put in my KA tranny, it will make life alot easier and will destroy other problems because i know for a fact that nothing is wrong with my KA tranny... as for the throw out bearing i will double check that also when we swap the ka tranny in there...thanks guys for the help...
