pistons and rods are just heavy duty cast units, they handle 400 whp because there's six of them.

How much power and abuse can they really hold? I've seen 440whp and 460tq out of a set, but the guy would burn a piston every three months or so. The ringlands would just let go.
Considering I never typed this, I think you should've made that obvious.
Now Ive seen 417wtq, and 320whp and the only thing that died were headgaskets. On stock fuel system IIRC.
