Midnight Purple?

A buddy of mine wanted to get into the nissan game and came to me for some advice, i thought id post our progress for your enjoyment and knowledge.
Anytime you drive a 240 lots of people talk about how they wish they could own one and you kinda brush it off, he sent me a video of this car proceeding to sell his Evo 8 daily and i decided id help him without a doubt.

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...lkersonS13.jpg

We started with a clip before finding a solid shell he was so set on it.
(All parts are sold or being used, please do not ask)

We drove to JDM tech b.c. they talked about a crate coming in with a clip they thought might have a goodie or two.

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...3/IMG_0995.jpg

We picked up this clip that hadn't even been touched by their pressure washers for standard clip cost before they got to really inspect it. I know, badass...

Getting it home late at night on the U-haul we didn't get to tear it apart till the next day, but it was very, very well equipped lol.

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...3/IMG_0989.jpg

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...3/IMG_0999.jpg

Blitz front mount, stock t25, Greddy bov recirc, oil cooler and relocation with gauges, personal wheel, and Greddy electronics seemed to be the setup until the heat shield came off for this..

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...3/IMG_1017.jpg
Sex, huge bonus.

Later this beautiful morning.... raw Ogura setup discovered..

Arc and SPL goodies

Edit: Almost forgot his adjustable hks cams!

Will update soon, ill leave yall with this!

rhart 02-11-2012 05:39 AM

< following this.

KendallH 02-11-2012 07:47 AM

Damn, wish I could have bought the rest of that clip off you haha. Will be following this!

Jared Noriega 02-12-2012 07:39 AM

Thanks, get that silv front finished kendal..

And Royce, if your not gonna "-r" within the next 3 months, ill give you this ka-t25 setup laying around for crying out loud.

After looking and waiting for a coupe to pop up that had been on any level of clean, or near the regular cost.. we decided on one and scooped it within the weekend that could have been better and worse as a 240 to start with.

Cracked dash, slip ons.. new carpet, single cam shell... we took it apart too..

(AFTER GUT AND PRESSURE WASH, car had everything except one reservoir and motor before we gutted and pressure washed)
http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...IMG_1225-1.jpg

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...3/IMG_1148.jpg
(He wantd a lil attention)

Shell wasnt too bad, everything checked out except the front corner had been crimped up and was arranged to be all fixed to perfection (Tommy, to do fab work on frame/core support)

Car wont be slammed together with ebay junk, anything thats not quality=temporary.

rhart 02-13-2012 06:10 PM

I remember that coupe being up for sale when I was searching for a shell. Nicely bought.

I understand your concern about my power progress. I'm hurrying to do it right you know what i mean? Nothing would be worse than being one of the very few KA-R's in the bay area and suck. Dont hold me to that time line too strictly or I'll start buggin' you about your 2jz project... ;)

-Royce

Jared Noriega 02-14-2012 04:35 AM

I was more offering you a turbo setup if you decide not to -R :P ..... Let's not talk about the 2j, a financial monster just ate the money it needed to run :/ I have been stupid busy with school but tonight I should have some free time to update if anyone's got the pop corn, big update incoming!

rhart 02-14-2012 08:30 AM

I hear you there. For me to go turbo now would be like you to go SR after gathering 75% of everything for your 2jz build. I'm not saying the "R" wont happen, but right now I'm just a few components from making it happen. So true is the saying, " you wanna play you gotta pay."

They will be done some day.

Blackzenki82 02-14-2012 10:10 AM

lemme get someah dem excess partz brah.

Jared Noriega 02-14-2012 03:09 PM

I hope they actually get done ever lmao.

Dem excess partz are being used brah, maybe a grill hahaha

I know all of you have seen an engine bay tommy painted if you read the build threads. Well, heres another picture, of the same angle, of the same chassis, again. As stated, midnight purple skyrine style.
(For the record, the first few pictures show where the core support was crimped up and it was drilled out and a new new was stitched in from the tower forward. Since he was painting the bay, and has done rhd conversions, i entrusted this to Tommy as well.)

congrats on such a legit clip purchase

S.E.A.N. 02-14-2012 07:03 PM

subscribed... DAT CLIP!! lucky as fuhhhhh cant wait to see the outcome!!! im getting ready to strip my frontend and paint it also, looks great!

Jared Noriega 02-15-2012 07:31 PM

Love the support here in nissan tech

The clip part out would have been a profit for sure.. Wanna get it all finished it up soon but good things take time. Been especially hard with school schedules but itl get there.

Oh yeah...and this..
Rear coupe aero laying around anyones garage?

(Not bolted down)
http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...3/IMG_1114.jpg

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...3/IMG_1056.jpg

gona giter fix'd up
http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...3/IMG_1033.jpg

Will probably do the main seals and oil pan tomm?

Also taking trades on the blitz front mount, it will only work with a silv front due to the cold side running through the core support and mounting up top. Cant be all dragged around and jenky.

S.E.A.N. 02-15-2012 07:49 PM

so u guys arent going with the silvia front on the car/ interesting. diggin the kit, tho! loving this build so far!

rhart 02-16-2012 08:28 AM

Ya know...i really enjoyed fixing up my dash too. It turned out pretty good for my first go around, until... i walked out the other morning to another freaking crack in it due to the cold. Maybe its just time to wrap mine...lol. That or Rhino line or Linex the dang thing!!

Like the progress...envy the side skirts!!

Blackzenki82 02-16-2012 08:11 PM

+1

Blackzenki82 02-17-2012 07:41 AM

let me get those bricks, i have duals and cash to trade. i also need the headlight brakets if you feel like being a bad ass and hooking that shit up too... lmk a price, being that you're not using the sil front and all...

I'd like to make an offer on the Aero bumper too (I have a good sil bumper also to replace it so you maintain a complete front end).... I'd pass on my KA to get these parts instead...

everything else looks solid... that turbo made me jelly as ffffuuuu... gold hiding under heat shields....

sean1 02-17-2012 09:42 AM

front end is already gone

KendallH 05-07-2012 01:02 PM

Yo Jared, any updates on this?

S.E.A.N. 05-07-2012 05:14 PM

^ this

lilbnort93 05-14-2012 03:27 PM

wow really looking to seeing some updates! subscribed!!!

Jared Noriega 06-03-2012 09:41 AM

We should have gone silv, it is sold and cant go back now. You have to remember the initial inspiration for the car was not silv. I believe the actual car is s13.4 now though anyway lol.

So sorry i have not posted any updates, we have only gotten to meet 3 times to do work on the car.
I will be going and finishing alot up today hopefully we rush these last few things.

In the past few times we got things done as well though. (My garage is very limited in tools -_-)

Starting to fit intercooler and cut through some beautiful paint for piping holes.
(We didnt have an intercooler when we went to paint or they would have been pre cut)

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...a/IMG_0346.jpg

Some coil action, looks real nice. Compared to the 9 and 11 spring rates on my car these are very squishy and may get new springs. The raw arms and rods installed as well. The rear will need some work to match.

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...a/IMG_0153.jpg

Tranny bolted (Lots of prybar needed, it was annoying as fuh)
Interior is also coming together

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...a/IMG_0154.jpg

I got the front 5 lug on and test fitted aero which has been sanded to fit nicely already. Missing DS carrier and needed to wait for a 240 to die to get it.. so the rear 5 lug will be done today when car can be put in gear (no impact for hub nut)

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...a/IMG_0349.jpg

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...a/IMG_0351.jpg

Theres alot to be done still . All gauges, relocation, exhaust welded, oil filter and cooler relocation, braided brake lines, ds etc... Most of all paint and wheels. Im digging some white te37/rpf1 on midnight purp body to match bay. Opinions or advice?

Jr_SS 06-03-2012 01:40 PM

Hope you don't plan on slamming that car with KW's...

Jared Noriega 06-03-2012 02:56 PM

I don't know where you read that in the thread but this car will be a DD in Orlando and is to be functional at its current ride height.

Jr_SS 06-05-2012 02:32 PM

I didn't read it anywhere? I was saying I hope you're not slamming it with the KW's... A lot of people that ride out in 240's love to drag the metaphorical 240 dick in the dirt. I'm not a fan of that, that's all. I like useable suspension.

Jared Noriega 06-05-2012 05:43 PM

I completely agree, sorry for the misunderstanding. I read a little of your thread...without commenting, i respect the work your doing more than 90% of the build threads in here. Cant wait to see the final dyno numbers. I envy your knowledge. We took out the small pre-stressed flat wire section of the coil in the rear.. give me your opinion or review on this if you have one and it would be greatly appreciated.

Are you refering to the helper spring? If so, it keeps the main spring on it's perch under negative or zero load, i.e. inside wheel in corner is unweighted typically and the helper spring keeps the coil on it's seat in those instances. It has little to no direct effect on spring rates. Personally, I don't see a reason to remove it and think you'll run into either hitting the bump stop sooner or bottoming out the piston without it. Think of it kind of like a safegaurd to bottoming out the piston in the shock. KW's are not cheap to repair or rebuild, trust me I know.

Thanks for the kind words on my build and reading through it. I wouldn't say I have an extensive knowledge in any one category, but it's nice to know a little bit about everything. I have done a lot of learning as I go, and a lot from overall experience from wrenching on cars over the course of my short life.

Back to your build though... What color are you going with on the exterior? Same as the bay or something different? As for new springs on the KW's cruise around on them before you change them. Mess with the dampening as well. Typically speaking, Kw coilovers have softer springs because they have good valving. You can over valve or over spring a coilover. If you want slightly stiffer springs look into Swift springs. Go over to nissanroadracing and do some reading. There is a ton of good information on that site with very little BS.

Jared Noriega 06-09-2012 06:17 AM

Yes, if thats the proper name, it is the helper spring. Another person who was knowledgeable im assuming in 240's removed it and i latched on. Wasn't aware of its function i appreciate it. Wouldnt change rates until riding these for sure but thanks for the help on good places to find read ups and new ones if it comes to. I wont be actually driving the car my buddy will so in the end its all in his hands. Exterior will be painted to match.. something along the lines of this.. (Im begging the paint comes out like the coupe and not what looks to be an s14.3)

Jr_SS 06-09-2012 08:34 AM

The top car has a much better looking color... Not a fan of the light purple, it needs to be a deep purp.

RobRobking18 06-11-2012 11:21 AM

i want a real color changing midnight purple on my hatch

Jr_SS 06-11-2012 01:42 PM

Plasma Blue Pearl, deep blue, purple and almost black at night. It's a factory color on Subaru...

KendallH 06-11-2012 02:08 PM

Midnight Purple LP2.

Jared Noriega 06-11-2012 10:23 PM

Id have to agree with the top car and LP2, looked at lots of colors before deciding. Itd be matching the bay too.

We got it running today, sounds mean even without the exhaust, motor sounds healthy. Sean1 came over and helped with some wiring, the fuel pump needed to be hooked up to the battery to run even though the fuse is getting power. Still need to get braided brake lines to get it on the road.

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...a/IMG_0445.jpg

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...a/IMG_0444.jpg

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...a/IMG_0441.jpg

Excited to feel the Ogura setup. We took a video but ill wait for exhaust

Jared Noriega 07-17-2012 06:59 PM

Car is running and looking good. Few more things need to be perfected before its road worthy though.
Hit a few bumps with the swap.. The turbo was toasty and the throw out bearing is going out. We got a stock t25 to put on it for now until an acceptable replacement is found. And now for the pictures...

This is how she sits as of today. 5 lug all around, the fronts will match the rears as soon as two tires are put on. Stock body coupes sure do look dope dropped a little on 17's. Did someone say Z brakes?

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...a/IMG_0672.jpg

Ohhhh yeahh, when car and aero is painted its going to be a dime

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...a/IMG_0676.jpg

Last look, 2871 is in motion.

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...a/IMG_0594.jpg

Oil cooler and filter relocation successful, new master cylinder, the Sr looks right at home.

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...a/IMG_0641.jpg

Thanks for reading. Heres a link to a small drive by, sounding pretty nice but far from done.
