I was told I can use an evo ecu on my 2g 6 bolt swap. Anyone familiar with this?

Yep. Just switch some pins around at the ECU plug. Ask away.

I used a 2g ECU/DSM Link Ver 2.5 to tune my Evo VIII before ECU Flash was really doing anything impressive . I got a patch harness for $99 @ RRE to avoid hacking up all but one wire on the car .

Sorry but I do not see the point of a patch harness. You just swap like 6 pins, pull one, and add one. Takes like 10 minutes. Unless Evo->2g is different..

The point is it's another way to plug-n-play without having to worry about how to un-do what was done. Just offering another route is all.

I guess ease of use is a good point...I didnt mean that as an attack on patch harness users I just would rather re-pin. Its not like Im ever going back to a DSM ecu lol.

I pin'ed mine in 5 min. It's easy to get the evo ecu running, I just can't tune it for the life of me.

Question bump...

As of this source link...

evo 8 ecu swap in a 2g - CarolinaDSM Forums

What all Cam Angle Sensors are gonna work with the evo ecu? This guy did it with the Spider 4G64, and you guys are using?

I only ask because I know the 1g and 2g eclipses differ and the spyder is slightly odd on some stuff and it makes me wander. In my case with a 4G64 block and I'm in the market for a 4g63 dohc head id like to know what I need. More or less I would like someone to confirm for me that this evo ecu swap will work for a 2g 4g63t and ill base my build on that. And if so, its safe to assume people running 1g cam sensors cant run the evo 8 ecu right???

(Current project is a 4g64 1995 mighty max, soon to get a Sirius1 4g64/4g63t hybrid motor + turbo swap and god willing tuned on a evo 8 ecu.)
