Boost leak question
So I had a 4g63t before and sold it so i'm looking to get into it again. My question is I looked at one today and when I drove it it would not go into boost. It has an exhaust leak that I can hear would that cause it not to go into boost? It got to 0vac and that was it. And it sputtered at idle alittle bit. Any help would be appreciated.

Wow I have been seeing alot of "NO BOOST?!" problems lately...its really hard to make a car not boost at all. Hell, I had my compressor outlet pipe come unbolted and with a 1/4 inch gap the car would still make 10psi...it was just really slow.
You pretty much have to have a massive exhaust leak that would be obvious(like cracked manifold or turbine housing), a coupler that has a huge tear in it, or possibly the wastegate or maybe the BOV is stuck open.
Inspect the entire intake system, look at the exhaust for cracks/whatever...look at the turbo and there will be a little metal cylinder thing with a rod on it that goes diagonal down towards the exhaust(this is the wastegate actuator rod)...push/pull on the rod to see if it seems frozen up..
But personally if that car has been modded at all (probably has) then I would stay away from it, who knows what else lurks...lol GL

an exhaut leak after the turbo wouldnt cause a leak. it could just not be atached to the mainfold properly or have some dumb leaks. i had the same issue and got it fixed. pretty much just tighten all the bolts down, use rtv, had check all the turbo components.
