Default GM Maf into DSM

does any1 have experience with swapping a GM maf into a dsm. i just bought a 3inch gm maf, and a g2 translator pro. how useful will this device be when i upgrade my turbo. is it pretty flexible as far as tuning? i also wanted to use the gm maf as a blow through. should i mount it between the BOV and the throttle body?thanks.

If your looking for upwards of 450whp then it will be very usefull. As a 2g maf will max out about that. Tunability depends on how savy you are and the tools you have to tune...ie, wideband, pocket logger, etc. I know that there is a 2g that uses one and is running low 10's and said is looking to dip into the single digits. And yes you should mount it between your BOV and throttle body.

i dont see the point. by the time you will be maxing out your stock maf, you should at least have dsmlink. if you have dsmlink, you have no use for the gm maf. the only good it would really do is for blow thru i would think.

Well I kept having problems with my stock maf so I bought on and It works great. It gets tuned with the gm maft then it gets fine tuned with the safcII. Never had a problem with it.

well if you have a gm maft and safc, your tuning setup is pretty limited. by the time you spend a bunch of money getting that setup, you could have bought link.

exactly....you are definately limited to only tricking the ecu to see more or less air...and if you are planning on buying both then i would deffinately invest in a link.

Just make sure you have a logger and a wideband. I have experience with this setup, and since you have nothing to account for timing, you had better watch your knock and other engine vitals. It's also a tempermental system when it comes to weather changes etc., and it always seems to need some fine tuning. Other than that, I'd say it's a descent setup but you'll want link in the future.

Very true but the safcII was a gift so I bought the gm maft. And I also have a wideband but your right, a link would probably be better.

Your def right on that, weather had a big part to do with it.

gm-maft and safcII are a perfect combo.... if you are a CHUMP just kidding

but I have dsmlink (shh...) and gm-maft(shhhh...), and it works wonderfully. What I love about the gm-maft as a blow-through is the fact that it reads the air AFTER everything else, such as pressure drops, boost leaks, and temp changes from going through the FMIC and all the piping. Thats what my goal was. I've been in cars that still had dsmlink with a stock MAS and they are still not as smooth as one with a gm-maft. excellent innovation.
