I REALLY dont want to blow an AWD tranny! I will NOT be able to afford a new one!

Im hoping to go the route that TealTalon pointed out with the 16G in a 97-98 AWD that should push about 300hp at the wheel. How likely is it that Ill blast my tranny into tranny nuggets?

 

16GAWD has basically that setup. He has aprox 500 HARD drag passes and a year of autocross on his car. Should be fine

 

It also depends on how hard you launch it and take care of it.

 

I never launch when Im on the street. Just something I got used to doing with the FWD Go-Go-Hammer. If that guy is all good in the hood then I should be okay.

 

You know I beat the hell out of it when I launch. I launch it at the track and the street all the time. Just dont dump the clutch!!!!!. That will kill the tranny/diff

 

If you launch it properly (an art form in and of itself) you should have no problems. Side stepping the clutch at 6K RPM is what will give you problems. There should be no drivetrain problems at a 1.8 60 level launch. Its when you start getting into the low 1.6s high 1.5 then its a problem. A mild street launch is more than enough needed for alot of street cars. Were talking about being on the other side of the intersection before the FWD even has its rear tires across the start line my man. I think you need a ride in one to understand. Bring you ass to the picnic you lazy bastard. Im sure we can get a ride in one for you.
