so i asked b4 about the 4g from and evo 3 in my car. 420a eclipse. and i was reading about swaps on neons and a lot of people do a 2.4 turbo from the PT cruser in the neons. on top of the srt4 motor in older neons, and i just wanted to know if anyone knows what exactly is the differences from the neon 420a and the eclipse 420a and weather or not those same swaps would work in the eclipse or weather the mounts and other parts are different.

just thinking a PT motor is gonna be cheeper than an evo motor. even an srt4 motor would be easyer to get a hold of.

 

Well the PTs have the same 2.4 turbo as the SRT-4. They are not a 420a.

 

ummmm...yea i know there not the same as the stock 420a motor. i would be stupid for me to swap a 420a for a 420a, but what im saying is that i have seen people swap the 2.4 turbo into a 420a powered neon, and wanted to know if it would work the same on the eclipse.

 

Time and Money... 2 key ingredients for what your wanting to do...

Well for starters the intake manifold and exhaust manifold are on opposite side on the Neon compare to the Eclipse.

The reason Neon owners do the SRT-4 swap or PT cruiser swap is because the engine face the same way with the intake manifold being in the front and exhaust manifold being in the back. So there's really not that much work cut out for them.

There is reason's why people haven't attempted this swap on their Eclipse and you can read/research it on 2GNT.com

There's only 3 solutions...
1) Build and turbo your 420a
2) Get the 2.4l out of a stratus I believe... there's info on the 2.4l on 2GNT.com
3) Evo Motor Swap from an Evo 8 because its been done. I'm not sure an Evo 4-6 will do but it faces the same direction as the 420a... you see 97+ Mirage owners doing this swap.


Just go to 2GNT.com and research.

The easiest of all of them if you want to stick with your car as a platform would be just building your 420a and putting a turbo kit on it.

 

theirs a talon running around with a built 420a with a t4 his name is amit... the car is beautiful... but as for the neon motor like WHITEFWDSM said everything is backwards

umm... so the intake and the exhaust manifold are on different sides, i still fail to see how thats a problem....

i wouldn't be getting just a block it would be everything form the doner car, so exhaust is a fairly easy fix, and the intake....shouldnt be hard eather right?

 

You still don't get it. Research on 2gnt.com then. It has been discussed over and over again the difference between the neon 420a and the eclipse 420a and why eclipse owners can't just get a neon 420a and put it in their car. Plain and simple is hasn't been done atleast I'm not aware of it. So if it hasn't been done we can't tell you if it will work or not but hell you seem you want to do it and fail to see what we are saying. So then go ahead and try it and let us know how it goes. Don't see why you want to go through the trouble of swapping engine's... these cars aren't Honda's. Like Amit stated just turbo the 420a.
