i need help on figuring outwut i need to do to convert a first gen eclipse sohc to a dohc 97 eclipse motor i'm not sure wut type but any type info would help me and my friend are stuck between a rock and a hard place

you would have to change a whole lot of stuff. ecu, mounts, head, injectors, almost all sensors, everything. dude, part the sohc out and get a car thats already dohc.

alright well im the one neexding the help cuz i dont really no nothing when it comes to a mitsubishi but im not relly looking for the power just need something with a lot less miles on it then what i have and trust me i would love to get another car but this is like my third one in a years time my civic craped out on me twice and didnt have the money to put in a third motor so i traded for a 91 eclipse it has 235000 miles on it and i just want to get another motor for it so i dont have to pray every day about it diyingso yeah if anyone has anything for dirt cheap to put in it then let me know but so far the only thing ive come across is a motor out of a third gen

 

Keep looking. Find another 1.8 that will just swap right in. There's tons of them at the junkyard; some look like they could've been in good running order. Look at cars that were hit in the back or side- they were running right up until the time of the accident.

 

I actually have a 1.8 and a motor... somewhere... Ill have to check with Brothers.

 

hey dario if ya can find it let me know but i aint got all to much to spend at all but yeah if ya do find it let me know how much tottal it would be to put it in also cuz im not to sure how to work on this car at all i just went from a honda to this so yeah

 

I thought the mounts for the 1.8 and the 4g63 were the same. This should be easier than trying to swap a 4g63 into a 420a eclipse
