Default Steering Rack

i want to remove my power steering rack but i dont want to take the chance of locking it up since it wont have any fluid running through it. i was wondering if there is a non-powering steering rack that would work with my car or if there is any thing you can do to keep the power steering racks from locking up

i think you should be alright.... I had a 91 eclipse with no power steering, because it all leaked out. nothing locked up though, and 1 year and a half later when I got around to fixing it, the ps pump/motor still worked fine.

yea i dont think that theres a real big chance of it locking up but my friend had an integra and he removed power steering and left the power rack in and it locked up on him and he went into a ditch and totaled the car so i just wanted see if theres a way to stop it

I know the 1.8l 1g's, some of them, came without PS and had manual racks. I know they will work on 1g's. Just don't know about 2g's. I also heard draining the rack... the steering is a bit on the harder side then just having a manual rack. Thats what I've heard. I never heard of them locking up though as far as from removing the PS system and draining out the fluid from the rack.

loop it. Run the resevoir with the lines connected tot the rack and fill it with fluid. That will keep it nice and lubricated!
