Default a/f controller and injector question

my friend has a 97 gst andneeds some advise on what to use to for injectors and to control his air & fuel. this is his set up
2.3L block (jerry built) with forged internals
big 16g
stock top end
fmic
walbro 255
intake
mbc
greddy type s
he's not going to go to high with the boost due to the stock head. would a safcII be enough?and would 650 injectors be enough or should he go with something bigger. thanks for any advise you guys have.

you can run high boost on a stock head, but i would recommend that if he wants to go safc, he should get an aeromotive fpr. and maybe some cams would be good, some 264/272 if he wants a nice idle. the 650s are more than enough for a 16g, but if he wants to go bigger turbo with alot of hp, hes gonna want more, and since he has a built motor it sounds like hes gonna be doin that, it all depends on what his goals are.

with the right fuel mods how much boost can you run DAILY & SAFELY with the stock head. the reason he's getting the built bottom end is because he blew up the stock motor so he doesnt want it to happen again. this shiz is expensive!

you can max out that 16g with the stock head. your gonna outflow the intake manifold before you outflow the head. i wouldnt want to run too much boost daily maybe like 16psi if its a dd. cause when you run alot of boost daily, stuff starts breaking. the head isnt somethin to worry about unless he wants to rev it higher.

Im in the same situation, so would a SAFC and 650s be a good combo? is the FPR neccessary? What would be the benefit of having it?

anything over like a 550 on an safc, and the car isnt gonna run as well as it should. an fpr will help alot especially with the walboror 255. youll get more consistent a/f with that. it all depends on his power goals though. is he keeping the 16g for a while? i would say for the 16g, sure 650s are plenty

if a 20g would get him alot more power while staying in the 16psi range he's gonna go with that. the question i have is it the amount of cfm of air or is it the higher psi that starts breaking things.because obviously a 20g at 16psi is going to flow more cfm than a 16g at 16psi?

with more hp, your runnin the car harder, it also depends on how much you race it and if yuou romp on it alot.

why are people scared to daily drive their cars at high boost? 22psi on my car all day and night

as far as the a/f the AFC with 650cc is a decent setup you shouldn't need an fpr unless you have rewired the fuel pump. That was the problem I ran into. You should however invest in a fuel gauge (I was donated the one that goes on the fuel filter THANKS BROTHERS) that way you know exactly if you really need a regulator or not. I have a b&m that I'm willing to part with that may or may not work for you. didn't do shit for my car since I have the rewire. I also have the AFC that I took out when I opted for the dsmlink. Its in perfect condition since I never mounted it and kept it in a sock in my glove box. If he decides to go with a 20g he may want to get bigger injectors but I'm not 100% sure on that. That's more of a Jerry question. I would say go for it and max out the injectors but that's just me
