Default Transmission Problem...

Since Ive owned the car, first gear has never quite worked...

Ive replaced the shift linkage becasue the previous owner that it would fix the problem, it didnt.

The problem... The car feels like it goes into first but when you release the clutch it pops out with a grind. Sometimes when you put it into 2nd and shove it into first it will catch.

Could the shifter cables just need to be adjusted or do you think first gear is gone?

Im going to shoot a PM to Jerry and the Brothers to see if they have time to look at it.

Well, have you adjusted the shifter cables? Does it go into every other gear just fine? It sounds like something is broken, to me. What, I don't know.

I have tried but have no clue what I am doing...

I read your thread on TBDSM I might try doing the full bleed. If you have any time would you mind taking a look?

PM me.

Well if it goes into every other gear fine then bleeding probably wont help. Is the shifter centered in the boot when in neutral? If you push the shifter in first and it hits the console before it fully engaged in first then yes it needs to be adjusted. If not then its time for a rebuilt.

The car is a 90 but Im not sure if it has a 91-94 transmission... The numbers on the top of the tranny wore off. Would anyone be able to tell by looking at it or if I posted som pictures?

Ive pretty much decided I want to get a new tranny anyway. Im tired of the welded center diff.

I have a couple of 23 spline transfer cases i can trade for your 22 spline as well so you dont have to buy another. That is if your awd.
