Default Eclipse smoking????

Ok here it goes, my friend has a 96 eclipse nt and recently it started smoking white at idle and when he drives its kinda blue, now i know white=coolant and blue=oil, i also has a really weird smell to it, i dont know how to describe it but it doesn't smell like oil or coolant. It kinda sounds like a head gasket or valve seals but im a honda guy so what do you all think?

How many miles and has there been any mods done to the block itself???
Head gasket would be my first guess
second guess would be if there are 90K + miles on it, it could be just your rings are starting to wear out because the stock rings are very weak.

rings were my guess too, it has almost 100k on it and the exact same thing happened to my 97 neon when it had right around 100k on it
