im getting ready to buy my cousins 01 eclipse, but my boys is always tellin me that i shouldnt. he drives an integra and swears that these new eclipses are slow. he thinks i should just get a civic or a teg like his. what should i do, cuz my cousin will give me a good deal on his car.

^^^^True. None of the cars you mentioned could touch the GST without a lot put into them.

 

I would never invest in an eclipse newer than 99. They have never and will never compare to the older versions.

thanks everyone. your comments have helped alot. and when i said i wanted to hook the car up, i meant lookswise because i dont get into all that engine stuff right now, i know i will in the future, but for now i want to buy a car that is already fast. thanks again.

 

the 3rd gen certainly isn't fast when you buy it, but the 4g64 motor in the 4cyl is really a great motor. I have mine boosted to 10psi, and put down 255hp and 280tq. They really handle boost well, and can take a ton of abuse. But again, they aren't fast stock.
