if you have a 1g motor in there, its a 6 bolt, is there any reason you need to know the exact yr the motor was made?

Means just that it's most likely a 6-bolt. Why couldn't it be a 7 bolt? My questions to the original poster:

1. Why do you want to/need to know?

2. If you really want to know at least approximately the year, as someone mentioned before count the bolts - 6 bolts = prior to April 1992, 7 bolts = April 1992 or later. (correct me if April is wrong maybe it's March; too lazy to search now).

its a 6 bolt, the reason i asked was cause i sent the head and bottom end off and they wanted to know the year, it had spun a main bearing...

I thought the cut off was May-June.

im sure they snuck in a couple 7's here and there though.
