ok...i keep hearing a ping come out of my exhaust like someone is tapping it with a hammer, anyone have any ideas what this could be?

 

Is this when your under boost, or just riding down the raod??

 

possibly a broken or worn exhaust hanger

Mine sometimes does it too. I have an aftermarket muffler and I'm thinking something inside it broke because I've jacked my car up and look for a loose hanger or something hitting the piping and can't find a thing. I also notice it mainly only does it when my car has warmed up.

if it does it under any accessory load (i.e. ps, or a/c) and a resulting idle drop...than it's probably either a broken hanger, loose heat shield, or something broken within a resonator or muffler...why don't you listen to it OUTSIDE of the car and pinpoint where it's coming from...
