Question Technical Question

Hey guys....I have a question about my engine. When I begin to accelerate there seems to be a very light rattling coming from it. Nothing big and I have only noticed it in the Mornings when I start it and at night lately when its colder. During the day when I drive, there's no noise or any other problems at all. The best way I can describe it is like shaking up loose change in a can but again its not loud. Could I have possibly spun a bearing or do you think it could be something else??

does it only happen when you start the car? if so its probably the starter. Thats my guess. Mine used to make a weird noise like that when it would start up.

ok well picture this if you can. Take a few dimes and attach them to a string and drag across the concrete gently. It is happening when I rev between 2 and 2.5k rpm's. If I run harder, sound is gone. I think it could be a spun bearing or maybe a ring going bad but I kinda would a 2nd opinion.

This is just a thought, if you have a heat shield try tightening it down more. Mine would rattle only at a certain RPM kind of like what your describing.

Actually I took the heat shield off a long time ago cause it was all rusted and nasty. Also I was preparing to do some work on the exhaust mani for when I got my turbo so that isnt the problem. It sounds like its coming from inside the head but I cant tell if its in the head or further down in the block. I have a pretty good feeling that its the rings because I am also burning oil again. What do you guys think???
